Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate and involves hands-on activities. Teachers incorporate multiple teaching strategies and technologies to appeal to every learning style. Using manipulatives, models and deep questions, students gain a conceptual understanding of math concepts. Students are encouraged to move past surface level memorization of skills to explain the applied process. A strong foundation in reading, writing, and speaking skills is fostered through our vertically aligned ELA curriculum. Our science curriculum strives to help students understand the creator through investigation of His creation and our social studies curriculum helps students see that all of history is His Story.

Technology
HCA is a one-to-one school. This looks different depending on the age group. Students in grades kindergarten- fifth are assigned an iPad and beginning in sixth grade students transition to a MacBook Air. Students in grades fourth and above may bring their device home. Technology in the classroom includes an interactive promethean board, video conferencing equipment and Google classroom.
Technology is used to support instruction through a variety of tools such as Freckle Math, Freckle Reading, ALEKs online textbooks, Nearpod, Epic, Kahoot, and Learning Ally. The most powerful use of technology to support instruction is when it is used as a tool for individual feedback or to differentiate instruction.
Auxiliary Classes
HCA students kindergarten through eighth grade have the opportunity to explore their interest in auxiliary class periods each day. Auxiliary classes include PE, Art, Music and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade also have Spanish.
